Hey Summer! -- My Poetry in Deep South Magazine
Oh how I loved this season as a child! Tree climbing, lightning-bug catching, swimming for hours, ice-cream truck chasing, road trips, playing at the creek... I have countless stories of childhood summertime adventures. It would take a novel to tell them but I did make mention of some of the good times in this poem, "Dear Summer", which is featured on Deep South Magazine's website today. Family and friends came out and a handful of poets performed inspiring poetry. I'll be posting video soon! In the days leading up to the event, I rehearsed my speaking parts, confirmed the performing poets, gathered last minute items and waited impatiently for my book order to come in the mail :^D. In the end, everything came together nicely and

My Journey to Self-Publishing: The Short Story
I have been working on my first poetry chapbook for quite some time now; six years to be exact. "Why so long?", someone in the world may ask. Well, life was happening; I wasn't ready and at some moments, I was scared... It all began when my poetry was being featured in an ad campaign for Coca Cola. At that time, I had been writing poetry for many years, sharing poems publicly here and there and creating pieces for family but I hadn't strongly considered compiling anything into a book just yet.
